A Very Casual Reading of Scripture

Join me for a trip through scripture from Genesis 1-Revelation 22. Every Tuesday and Friday I will continue reading through scripture while wondering and discussing each story with those present. We are not worried about “correct” or orthodox interpretations here. The goal is to wonder and explore what is contained is this very big book most of us own but have dared to read in full. As a pastor, I do not claim to have full expertise on everything Bible. I am, however, an expert at falling down rabbit holes and asking very obscure questions.

Day 1: Genesis 1-4

Genesis can be read in many different ways. I find a literary approach draws out the richness it offers. In the Jewish tradition, “Genesis is Judaism’s foundational work, a philosophy of the human condition under the sovereignty of God”. This may be the one biblical book which gives permission to explore and wonder and question and seek out new perspectives.
